SJB & The sanctity of MARRIAGE

Image
St. John the Baptist: Martyr for the Sanctity of Marriage Mt 14:1-1 2 Simply put, St. John the Baptist died because he told Herod Antipas that his “marriage” to Herodias was invalid and sinful .  Herod Antipas had divorced his first wife, Phasaelis, so as to be able to marry Herodias, who had been married to his half-brother Herod II (also known as Herod Philip I). The situation is described in Scripture: For Herod himself had ordered that John be arrested and bound and imprisoned, on account of his brother Philip’s wife Herodias, whom Herod had married. For John had been telling Herod, “It is not lawful for you to have your brother’s wife.” So Herodias held a grudge against John and wanted to kill him. But she had been unable, because Herod feared John and protected him, knowing he was a righteous and holy man (Mark 6:17-20). A  covenant or contract , the difference listen to Fr. the AJ SCHMITT and Sons Farm throughout the years

Much more than  farming, it was about  respecting each other,  responsibility, hard work, teamwork, when it got hard,  work harder, family above all other. The AJ Schmitt and Sons Farm can trace its origination to Rosedale,NY Albert & Margaret Kapplemeir Schmitt operated a vegetable farm on Merrick Blvd, they were both of German Heritage. Anthony Schmitt  was one of their sons (all became farmers in adulthood) and the last to operate the farm before it was sold in 1947. Anthony & his wife Cecilia moved their family; Joseph, Jean, Anthony Jr., & Roger to Farmingdale NY. They purchased a farm in Melville located on Ruland Rd. AJ Schmitt & Sons Farm was established. They sold their produce consisting of a variety of green leafy & root vegetables. The produce was trucked into various NYC wholesale produce markets   and direct...

4th of July , Pathmark, Cross Bronx Expressway, AJ SCHMITT AND SONS.

Image
Many of you have heard of my infamous first solo driving of one of our market trucks on the road. ( Ref :  AUGUST 1974    But , with the 4th of July holiday weekend, my mind remembers the 4th of July weekend, 1976. Pathmark supermarkets had given AJ SCHMITT and SONS a large vegetable order for the holiday weekend.  July 2, 1976 was a Friday, and thus we could fulfill that order. Hunts Point Terminal Produce was not operational on early Saturdays or Sundays mornings. We never made trips to HPTP on Fridays or Saturdays. Thus, both trucks could be used to deliver the huge order to Pathmark warehouse, 60 miles away in Carteret NJ. And all farm workers could help harvest that order. We had a few high school guys , my brother and I included, working on the farm that summer. One of us would take a day off, and it would be rotated among the high school guys. That Friday I had the day off. We still had not gotten a refrigerated tractor trailer to take produce to market. The ...

An ABC News Studios documentary talks with survivors of the 1972 plane crash into the Andes, where 16 men spent 72 days fighting to make it back home.  PRISONERS IN THE SNOW https://abcnews.go.com/US/survivors-1972-uruguay-plane-crash-revisit-tale-extremes/story?id=98405303  Survivors of 1972 Uruguay plane crash revisit their tale of going to the extremes to live.  I was fascinated by the real life story of survival of this Uruguayan rugby team.  I read the book ALIVE  in an English class durng my junior year in high school. We had discussions about the book , including the survival methods of the rugby players. I don't remember any of that at all But, the courage, bravery , and determination of all who initially survived the crash is captured well in the two hour documentary, Prisoners of the Snow. The story has been told many times in books.and movies.  Roberto Canessa (left) and Nando Parrado upon reaching civilization. "Death has...

HEALING BROKEN HEARTS ❤️❤️🙏🙏

❤️  It was January 1987, a Thursday, the 15th of the month. My wife was pregnant with our first child,  in the first trimester of pregnancy.. Finally, she was beginning to feel better after being hospitalized with hyperemesis. The physical complications due to   hyperemesis are an inability to perform daily functions,  and the lack of adequate nourishment. Most of December she was not well. At the end of December, she was severely dehydrated, malnourished, and her electrolytes were out of whack. A hospital stay was needed.🤔 Even before the hospital stay , Linda had to stay home from work due to the complications of hyperemesis. She lay on the couch eating only ice chips and maybe some jello. The visiting nurse service brought IV's  for nourishment. Instead of gaining weight, Linda was losing weight. The doctors assured us that the fetus, our baby was getting adequate nourishment. The baby siphons off nourishment before the mother gets hers....
