9/11 Remeberance.
September 11, 2001 was a terrible day for all Americans. It was a day of terror attacks by foreign enemies. An attack on, and destruction of landmarks that we all knew. The Twin Towers in NYC and the Pentagon in our nation's Capitol.
Close to 3,000 people died that day, most of them our fellow US citizens. More continue to die due to 9/11 related illnesses. On a personal basis , I knew (or knew their family members) 4 individuals who perished due to the 9/11 terror attacks.
Peter Ganci was second in command of the FDNY.
Peter was from Farmingdale NY, and I went to St. Kilians elementary school with his brother & sister. He died in the collapse of the Towers attempting to save people trapped in the tower.CORRECTION : At the time of the attacks, he held the rank of Chief of Department, the highest ranking uniformed fire officer in the department
John Wallice was a businessman with an office in the Towers.
John was a fellow classmate at Holy Family Diocesan high school in South Huntington NY. John perished in the Towers collapse.John Schroeder
was the son of my former HFDHS teacher, Jack Schroeder who also was an athletic coach. John perished in the Towers collapse.Rory Maze
was a year behind me in high school . Rory also rode the school bus with me. Rory was a member of the FDNY. Rory died in December 2018 of a 9/11 related illness.Additionally, Todd Beamer
an Oracle colleague was one of the heroes on Flight 93 who stormed the cockpit and overtook the terrorists before they could crash into the Pentagon. He uttered the famous phase, " Let's Roll". Todd perished along with all the crew & other passengers on Flight 93.Please remember these men who died living their daily lives due to acts of terror on the USA. Say a prayer for them & their families who live each day without them in their lives . I went to Mass today, and at prayer of the faithful I said out loud each of their names to be remembered in prayer π.
Don't ever forget them ! π₯ π πΊπΈ
God bless all who died due to the cowardly acts on 9/11/01
