The joy of life & Maddie !
Okay, I'm back at blogging. It's been a long time since I last wrote, almost 7 years. I have been encouraged by a few to go for it. So, my first blog and its about a very important subject.
Much has happened in those years. I started a graduate program at Fordham University. I quit the Fordham graduate program after two semesters. Although, I found it interesting and enjoyable, I also discovered I underestimated the time commitment for the next 2 1/2 years. The knowledge I gained is valuable in everyday life.
I moved back to the Rochester area after living for almost 5 years on Long Island. The last time previous that I was a Long Island resident was December, 1980. I moved to Rochester to accept a job offer, then married, bought a house, and had two wonderful daughters, da..da. Rochester was my college town. I relocated back to Long Island in November, 2009 due to health problems, specifically depression (that's another blog). I moved in with my father for two years, then a couple of different places.
Both my daughters completed or almost completed college graduate programs since my last blog. Dad died a couple of weeks prior. I endured another severe episode of depression. I beat that, again with medication, therapy, support from loved ones, & faith. Kristen got a MSW from UNC - Charlotte. Lauren is almost done with the Nurse Anesthetist Program at SUNY- Buffalo. Kristen & Bobby got married. Moved to MA, and bought a house. And were blessed with a beautiful baby daughter on January 14, 2019 in Wareham, MA, Madeleine Elizabeth Deasy, quite simply known as Maddie. Lauren is due to be married this August.
Maddie brings back the rush of all the wonderful memories and experiences of 1988 & 1989. The years Kristen & Lauren were born. It's a true joy to watch and interact with this little (ok not so little anymore, 13+ lbs) bundle of joy. I spent a good part of this past Monday afternoon with my new granddaughter & eldest daughter at the local Cheesecake Factory Restaurant. Kristen & I paid little attention to our meals, but were enthralled (maybe more I) with the eye movements, hand gestures, and facial gestures of the little red head beauty in our midst.
Wow! I have forgotten how innocent the face of a young baby is. They are like a sponge looking around and absorbing, what ?, who knows what they are processing in their mind. One minute giggling and smiling with us, the next eyes closed asleep and unconsciously smiling in their sleep. It makes me appreciate the creativity of God, and the gift he bestowed upon Kristen & Bobby, all Maddie's grandparents, aunts & uncles. My parents were the proud grandparents of 11, they both saw every one born. Loved them all equally. I know the love I have for Maddie is equal to the love I have for Lauren & Kristen. I'll try my best to enjoy her life and be proud of her accomplishments, the same way I was and am for Kristen & Lauren.
