M&M acted as beacons and models for all future Fisher students
Fellow Fisher alumni & friends,
I recently stumbled across this letter in my files, that is nearly 7 years old. It was written by M.C. Antil & Dan Stummer both good friends of Muenchy & Fats , as they were known at Fisher. I added a few photos, but not a word.
I never met either M.C. or Dan until Mike became ill, and after the death of both. Their letter truly illustrated a human portrait of M&M.
Goodness, discipline, knowledge!!
They lived & represented those words. I think their family members should have Honorary Graduate degrees bestowed upon them. I bring this up again, because Rudy Guiliani acts in complete opposite of these two highly respected & admired deceased Fisher alumni.
I had no clue as to the political affiliations of Mark or Mike. In the post Fisher years. Our friendships grew on the basketball court, golf course, after basketball beers, social gatherings, we never talked politics. No need to, plenty of basketball, football, golf, family life to discuss.
My first voting election was my freshman year at Fisher, Nov. 1976. Carter vs Ford, My pals & I were more knowledgeable & concerned if The Campus Club had a special on draft beer that Tuesday night. I'm pretty sure I voted for the peanut farmer, because my crowd was tired of Nixon, Watergate etc.
However, SJFC had a large influence on my thinking in life, thus political thought. I was an accounting major and classes that were very logical in thought. Mr Wolfe's & Mr. Duplessis's accounting classes, and Dr. Donald Muench's Intro to Computers class forced me to be disciplined & concise in thinking. In the fields of accounting & basic computer programming, there is usually only one correct answer.
However, it was the non business management & accounting courses that led me to think and debate. Dr. Richard Miller's philosophy class in logic, Fr. Jack Murray's The Just War Theory and Morality Business developed my young mind and it's critical thinking process. Same with English classes taught by Fr. Joseph Dorsey, and Mr. Ed Daly.
My Fisher education & mind development is in a Catch 22 now. Why is Rudy Giuliani still holding onto a Fisher Honorary degree ? 🤔🤔🤔🤔
I'm not sure, if Mark & Mike would support it, but they were my friends and we usually were on the same wavelength on life issues. Long live the legacies of Mark & Mike, no such words for Hizzonner.
