Have a Great Weekend, one of my fave Bruce tunes from MSG JULY 2018...A great performance, but it is still topped @ MSG by this May 8, 1970 event.

As a 12 year old kid growing up on LI,that victory by Willis & co was the crown of a NY sports trifecta, that was oh so magical...and a 17 month period in NY pro sports that is imbedded in the memory of oh so many. Starting w Joe Willie & co. Upsetting the mighty Colts in SB III.
Next up the Amazin Mets taking down another Baltimore team deemed a team of the ages, the Orioles of baseball. The '69 WS was dominated by an upstart Mets team guided by Mgr Gil Hodges, & all-stars such as Seaver, Kooz, Jones supplemented by Clendenon, Weis, Swoboda, Agee. Best is that all the WS games were played in the daytime. (Soon replaced by games ending past midnight).
Finally, the NY Knickerbockers, placed in an underdog situation vs West, Chamberlain, & co. Because of the disabling injury to their Captain #19, Willis Reed. I doubt there has been a more inspiring & loud roar in sports, then when Willis walked onto the floor for Game#7 of the 1970 NBA finals. Pure bedlam.
Soon, Hodges would die of a heart attack, Namath suffered injuries that caused him to miss many games, but the NYK soon won another NBA title.
That period in NY from Jan 1969 - May 1970 was heaven.
Mix in Man on the Moon, Woodstock. Pure magic.
