LENT : REMEMBERING HIS SACRIFICE
ππLENT: GOD'S SACRIFICE
How often do you really pay attention to the message of Sunday's homily? It's delivered by either a priest or a deacon.
I admit my mind does drift, but I have read the Gospel & Readings, so I'm in tune with that Sunday's message. I'm also fortunate because I belong to a parish that livestreams each Mass, and are available on YouTube.
Γ
Would my mind wander if the homily was delivered by Jesus himself ? I would hope not. I pay attention to every song performed by Bruce Springsteen if I'm at one of his concerts, and I pay close attention to Jim Nantz when he is broadcasting the NCAA basketball final.
Isnβt Jesus's word delivered in the Gospel and homily valued more than a basketball game or concert? Yes. The difference is we can hear & see the joy instantaneously at events on Earth. We have to be patient & wait for our eternal reward with God. But, we should never leave the path that God has given us. Believe, Patience, Reward.
I'm fortunate to have Fr. Mickey McGrath as my pastor.
Often he authors a very educational and in depth article in our weekly bulletin. It's not short in length, and I may not read it that Sunday and I keep it to read later that week. LENT : REMEMBERING HIS SACRIFICE IS EXCELLENT. FOLLOW THE LINK ABOVE.
A couple of things, Fr. Mickey is the first pastor whom is younger than I (π βΏοΈπ¦») uh,oh. He also is a graduate of my alma mater, St. John Fisher University. When I was seriously ill recently, he called, he visited, he gave me the annointing of the sick, and he bought food. A good disciple of Christ & a friend.
Happy LENT. I'm not holy, but a sinner trying to stay on Christ's path. βοΈβοΈ
